The existence of a personality
like Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) who has been the establisher and the
care-taker of a great divine religion like Islam necessitates
adequate search and study-even though promptly- about his
ancestors of prophets especially when we put in mind that
semi-great relationship between Islam and the other heavenly
religions with regard to content even though their forms differ
from one another. And here, we have to pass away so fast with
these ancestors whose starting-point stemmed from the Prophet
Ishmael bin Abraham's branch up to the Prophet Adam
(P.B.U.H.).
1. Ishmael: It is verily, the first branch of
prophet-hood which is associated with Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) by
way of his wife Sara who at the time being was an old woman and
sterile and impotent, considering the birth of Ishmael, the son
of Abraham (P.B.U.H.) as one of the miracles of Abraham and the
most important of bounties bestowed to him.
When he was thirteen years old,
his father, Abraham had seen a bewildering sleep: that he was
ordered to slaughter Ishmael and that was really enacted by the
prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael which was a crucial test
and scaring as well, at the same time but they both, despite
that, welcomed the divine revelation wherein Ishmael had said
his famous say upon which the holy Quran had
touched:
"O father! Do what you were
ordered and you will find me one of the patient."(Al-Safat:
102)
Just then, the divine call came:
"And We called him: " O Abraham! What you have seen in your
sleep has come true and We as such recompense the
charitable"(Al-Safat-105) during which both have passed the
test so successfully that the whole of the angels were highly
amazed before mankind.
2. Abraham: Heroism can be felt embodied in its
finest apparel and positive sense through the same prophet
Abraham for he fought a thorough society which all reject the
belief in the unification of Allah individually and made great
efforts to establish pillars of unification and erase the roots
of paganism. He has been the unique resisting man in his nation
to be later on in Allah's sight "a whole nation in one
man?
Abraham was born in the Iraqi
city of Babylon which was under the rule of the then Nimrod bin
Kan'an whom the Christian Gospel has described as being: "The
mightiest hunter in front of the Lord who gradually grew up to
become the mightiest ruler and on the earth and many a man were
obliged at the time being to worship him and the worshipping of
idols.
Nimrod came, later on, to know
that his throne was about to collapse on the hand of someone
whose birth will be settled in his own environment; so, he gave
an order to isolate males from females to avoid the occurrence
of the catastrophe which may befall him at any moment but
Allah's Will aimed to have that blessed semen of the prophet
Abraham be joined at the same night when his orders were issued
but the matter did not stop at that
limit.
Nimrod, by using his own will
and might, and through his authority and armies, was determined
to kill every newly-born male during those times but his mother
bore him (Abraham) in secret and laid him on a mountain
adjacent to the city and there he stayed for thirteen years
whereof he came and mixed with the people to recognize then the
phenomenon of worshipping other than the One
Allah.
From this same point, Abraham endeavored to
fight this belief starting his call with his family, the first
of whom was his uncle Aazar who was an idolater, then he
carried on fighting against the beliefs of those who worship
planets and stars and he reinforced his claim with strong and
brilliant proofs through which he defeated their
practices.
3. Noah: The Prophet Noah (P.B.U.H.) is
described as being a symbol of patience and resistance due to
what he suffered from worries, harms and troubles through his
march in performing his message and the act of delivering it to
his people.
He availed no effort in calling
people to believe in Allah as being One and promote the notion
of unification in the hearts and that there is no God in the
whole universe other than Allah, to Whom be ascribed all glory
and perfection. He employed a two-way call to convey his
message to the people, namely-in secret and in public;
therefore, he accomplished this task of unification in secret
and in public and he was the first to inspire the idea of
making the Arc. Noah is said to have lived two thousand and
five years according to what some narrators say.
4. Driss: and his name in the Torah is "Sonoch"
and in Arabic is called "Driss." In addition to his
prophet-hood, he was a scientist in astronomy, mathematics and
the art of deciphering human features. He was the first to
teach mankind the science of tailoring. (sewing
clothes)
5. Adam: He (P.B.U.H.) was the first of Allah's
caliphs on earth and His messenger and he and his wife "Eve"
were the cause of the human existence on earth as Allah willed
it, and both were the first of Allah's whole human creation on
earth and Allah Himself ordered all the angels to prostate to
Adam except Satan who opposed Allah's order in a renowned story
whose details were mentioned in the heavenly
books.
And right now, let us get back
anew to the details of Muhammad's biography (P.B.U.H.).
