Peace means calmness, tranquility,
normalization of relationships and avoidance of what causes
tensions with the parties around the world; in other words, it is
the non-war condition with the other party. It is the basic
foundation for every development and prosperity in all aspects of
the substantial life and the moral as well. Verily, the
legislature of Islam has made peace as the origin of kind dealing
between Muslims and others and rendered the matter of war as an
exceptional affair to combat transgression and to preserve
religions, bodies, fortune and honor of the people.
Peace is one of the best of
Allah's sublime names to whom be ascribed all glory and
perfection The word 'peace' is a symbol of good and well-being
and one of the heavens' elevated names; and because this word has
become indicative of good, love and fairness, it has become a
common term for greeting amongst the Muslims which is: Peace be
on you; in reply it is: And peace be on you."
Islam is a religion which believes
in peace and rejects War, killing and destruction for, of course,
it means death whereas Peace denotes life in its full meaning and
that Allah, the Almighty, has created people in order to live and
not to die and this means that Allah, (Glory be to Him) is with
peace and not with 'war'.
Islam and Violence
What the world is witnessing
nowadays of violence, terrorism, destruction and sabotage by the
hand of the so-called 'Islamists' is nothing but a great
conspiracy, well-designed and drawn up by the opponents of Islam
to deform the picture of Islam before the public by considering
it as a religion of killing, explosion, slaughtering and
displacement assuming that it believes in violence only and
believes not in peace and that it stands inimical against all
religions, doctrines and disrespecting the will of the nations or
rather cherishes hostility against humanity
altogether.
This
heated campaign has been waged to stand as an impediment in the
way of the Islamic expansionist movement which has swept away the
Christian countries – from Europe, America, Asia and others of
the countries which embrace the same divine and man-made
religions through which Islam started piercing between their
peoples by convincement, instruction and peaceful ways, not with
swords and cutting heads off.
Physicists say that for each
action, there is a reaction equivalent to it in quantity,
opposite to it in direction. Yes, but this law does not stop at
the limit of Physics only but rather passes it over to the other
associated fields and among them is the one understudy. What is
happening in the modern age of violence and terrorism which is
related to Islam is but the expected reaction to that great
Islamic expansionist flow which has swept away their
countries.
ISIS or other than ISIS is but a
ring in the series of distorting the genuine Islamic image and
exposing it as a bloody backward barbarian religion which does
not go in accord with the modern development nor does it believe
in peace at all but rather against the wills of the peoples as
well as against development and humanity on the whole.
Where has the Islamic violence
been long ago if we get back to the early time of embracing
Islam? Did the Prophet of Islam cut off someone's head or rape a
woman or evacuate a folk out of their country so that what one
can assume then that what is happening these days is due to a
natural extension of his former legal deeds?
The Islamic
Wars
The question that is raised by
some, nowadays, is that if Islam is a peace-loving religion and a
peace-believer, so, why did he fight against the disbelievers and
the polytheists of Qureish and others and conquered some regions
and tribes?
The answer to this question is:
Every battle into which the Prophet entered the war had been
defensive-not an offensive one like: Uhud battle, Badr
battle and others, firstly and secondly: a modern religion at
that time has been new in structure, weak from the start So if it
does not show something of power and vigorousness in confronting
the overwhelming challenges it will be targeted by enemies from
every side trying to overcome him and rooting it out while it is
still in the cradle; therefore, Islam has depended on the
principle of Al-Jihad (holy fight) not to transgress against
others but to defend itself.
This kind of holy fight (Al-Jihad)
can yield many benefits, other than the ones mentioned
before:
1. If
the disbelievers and the hypocrites came to be aware of the
aptitude and the readiness of the Muslims to stand up for
themselves, they would fear them and avoid confronting with them
(and here 'peace' will be achieved)
2. They
will be nearer to paying the tribute in case of their rejection
against entering into Islam and not to be nearer to entering into
war.
3. Avoidance of supporting and backing up the
other disbelievers against the Muslims.
4. It
may alleviate the state of fear from the obstinacy of the
stubborn people and push them towards embracing
Islam.
Jihad is made up of two
parts:
A-Jihad (holy fight) which
indicates self-defense and in this kind of Jihad there is no
doubt about its legality to push aggression away and avoid harm
befalling Muslims and their lands Allah, the Almighty, said in
His holy Quran: "Permission to fight (against disbelievers) is
given to those (believers) who are fought against, because they
have been wronged; surely Allah is Able to give them (believers)
victory."(Al-Haj : 39)
B-Jihad of Demand: which means the
removal the handicaps the tyrants usually place in the way of
people's call for Islam and then after exposing Islam to them,
they will have two options before them, that is: Either to submit
to Islam willingly or abide by their own religion (and this also
a legal affair) as there is no complaint or injustice to be
raised or claimed against anybody.
Why did Islam fight against the
Romans and Persians?
The answer to this, is that the Romans and the
Persians were two great and strong neighboring empires to the
Islamic State and they both have excessive greed to occupy its
vast lands and fight against its new religion; therefore, it was
incumbent upon Muslims to draw them back and kill their
expansionist dreams in their buds that is through taking them by
surprise and launching an offensive over their fortifications and
castles and pushing them back by a proactive attack whose task is
at sometimes, has proved to be of the preferable defensive
instruments as the military experienced personnel say which
is usually termed as: a "proactive war" whose main task is to
restrict the intentions and the aggressive future schemes of the
enemy.
Building on the foregoing, and as we have
already known that Islam (with the exception of the resources
mentioned) does not believe in war, killing, sabotage, and have
no greed in one's fortune and that all the wars that have been
launched were but defensive, not offensive.
